About Ukrainian Typing

Ukrainian uses the Cyrillic alphabet, which is completely different from the Latin alphabet used in English. This tool makes it easy to type in Ukrainian with all the proper characters.

The modern Ukrainian alphabet consists of 33 letters. While it shares many letters with the Russian Cyrillic alphabet, it also has some unique letters and doesn't use some letters that are present in Russian.

Some distinctive Ukrainian Cyrillic letters include:

  • Ґ/ґ - represents a "g" sound, as in "go"
  • Є/є - represents a "ye" sound, as in "yes"
  • И/и - represents an "y" sound, similar to the "i" in "bit"
  • І/і - represents an "ee" sound, as in "meet"
  • Ї/ї - represents a "yi" sound

Ukrainian also uses the apostrophe (') as a special orthographic symbol to indicate that the following vowel is not softened by the preceding consonant.

Simply click on the character you need to insert it into your text. You can then copy and paste your text into any application that supports Unicode text.
